Blanket Scarf Styling Tips (for petite girls)

When blanket scarves began trending, I honestly wasn’t sure how I felt about them. I thought that because I’m petite, they would be much too overpowering on me. But now that I’ve picked up some tips on how to style blanket scarves on my smaller frame, they have become a staple to in my winter wardrobe. They look cute and are SO warm – perfect for that New England weather.

Of course, you’ll need to find a scarf that’s the right color and size for you (if you’re shorter you’ll probably want a smaller blanket scarf). But once that’s done, here are some tips on how to style your blanket scarves in the most flattering way possible.

1 – Pair with fitted bottoms.

A big, warm blanket scarf paired with faired jeans or baggy pants . . . not a good look, especially if you’re small. When I wear a scarf I try to pair it with flattering, slim pants, like these black legging skimmers from Gap.

2 – Find a scarf that’s not too overpowering/ bulky.

This is definitely important if you’re petite, but it’s also important that you learn to tie your scarves in ways that aren’t very bulky. That way it won’t look as though you’re swimming in the scarf.

3 – Define the waist.

I usually go for a top that isn’t too flowy, like the bottoms. Something that shows off the smallest part of the waist is always flattering with a scarf. I know this is hard to do when you’re wearing a jacket and trying to stay warm, but if your just wearing a shirt and blanket scarf, you probably want to stay away from flowy, cape like tops.
