You are Good

God is good. What does that mean? Once I started contemplating what it means, the sentence, God is good became so comforting to me. Let me explain.

I heard the song King of My Heart by Bethel, and the chorus says, “You are good. You are good.” The first time I heard it I had a lot on my mind and wasn’t having a great day. I thought, If God is so good, why is a. b. and c. happening to me? Does he not care about my circumstances?

Selfish thinking, I know! But I was having a tough day and wanted to understand how this woman singing the song was so confident in the fact that her God was so “good.”

Later in the week I was doing a devotional and read something about how we often let our life situations define how we feel about God. God is ALWAYS good. Even just the earth He created is good. The fact that He sent His son to die for our sins is good. He is constantly waiting to hear and answer our prayers, and that is good. Add in everything else – all that He’s blessed you with – and see that He is GOOD. He is a perfect, loving father whom we can find comfort and peace in.

Life isn’t always easy or pleasant or good. But He is. Our fears are great, our hurt is great, and our sin is great. But our God is greater.

So when I’m having thoughts about how much my life can suck (… ok, it’s not THAT bad), I simply tell myself, God is good. God is good. And it’s soo comforting! We can find peace knowing that He is always good and so are his plans for our lives. And although things may seem hard right now, maybe even like there isn’t a God at all, remember that He is good and someday this will all be in the past and we’ll be spending eternal life with our perfect father.

Our fears are great, our hurt is great, and our sin is great. But our God is greater.

With love,

Gabriella
