Spring Formal in Red

Spring Formal in Red

Last weekend I attended a spring formal with my brother and I thought it’d be fun to share some photos of my outfit!

First, can I say that preparing for this dance wasn’t exactly what I imagined. I’ve heard stories of how much fun girls have shopping for prom dresses and then getting their hair and make-up done and then, just like that, they’re done. But it didn’t happen like that for me.

It wasn’t that I was stressing about this dance. Really, I wasn’t. I just had a couple dress preferences that I stubbornly stuck to. From dress shopping trip #1, I told my mom I WAS NOT going to wear a long dress because I refused to have it shortened. I also said I really really wanted a red dress (as you can tell from the theme of this blog, red is my favorite color :). And I also didn’t want anyone else to do my hair, nails, or make-up because I didn’t want to pay for that when I could do it myself. It might not have looked as good, but I’ve gotten pretty handy with a curling iron.

So as I searched through every single store in our town (refusing to even try on any long dresses), I soon realized there were absolutely no short red dresses in any store in the Upper Valley. Or any dresses that looked half way decent on me. So I decided to order my dress online.

It soon became clear to me that I wasn’t going to be able to wear a red dress like I had hoped (they were all either too short, too long, too expensive, or didn’t fit right), but I found a nice white one at Macy’s and decided on that one. My dad went to pick the dress up from the store and while he was there . . . he saw a red dress! So he grabbed that one too and I actually ended up liking that one better than the one I picked out. And that’s the one I went with!

Thankfully all the dress hassle turned out ok, but of course, the day before the dance I ended up with a pinched nerve in my shoulder from lifting . . . seriously, who does that?? It made dancing very interesting. I’m surviving on advil at the moment . . .

I hope you’re all doing well! If you’re going to prom this year, let me know in the comments and tell me what color dress you’re wearing!

With love,

Gabriella
