A Few Things I’ve Learned From The Last Six Months

Hey, friend (: I’m back at the lake again this weekend, so I’m going to keep today’s post short and sweet.

Obviously, the last six months of life have looked so different for all of us. There’s no denying it. I remember first hearing about Covid19, hearing people were isolating themselves, hearing my church wasn’t meeting in person on Sundays, and watching my work plans for summer fall through.

Back then, I was sure it would all return to normal in a couple weeks. That life would pick back up where it left off, and that I’d be able to see my friends again soon.

I didn’t realize that I’d be here, in August, still trying to navigate this pandemic. And that, although things have gotten better, it would take up this much of our year, our media, and our lifestyles.

I don’t mean to make you emotional or have a pity party, but I want to look at this situation that is hard for everyone, and bring a little light to it.

Something I was thinking about the other day is this:

If none of this – Covid – had ever happened, I wouldn’t be the same person I am today. We all have had to learn and grow and become stronger versions of ourselves through this season. It has been painful, as growing often is.

But maybe this growth was necessary.

I can look back now and say that I’m proud of myself. I’m proud of myself for getting through those hard, uncertain months. Those months were I missed my friends and family and routine and socialization. I’m proud of myself for staying positive, for choosing happiness everyday, and for continuing to work hard on my dreams during those months.

As you look back now, what things did you overcome, and what are you proud of yourself for?

James 1:2-4 – Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

Romans 5:3 – We can rejoice when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.

Love,

Gabriella
